Ms. Jennifer Ganten

Chief Global Affairs Officer of Commonwealth Fusion Systems

As Chief Global Affairs Officer of Commonwealth Fusion Systems (CFS), Jennifer Ganten leads a cross-functional team of government affairs, public affairs, and open innovation to support the rapid growth of the commercial fusion industry. Since joining the company in 2021, Ms. Ganten has overseen policy, regulation, and partnerships across international, federal, state, and local governments to increase global support for this credible solution to climate change. Under her leadership, the Open Innovation team has partnered with over 50 private and government groups globally on joint research and development projects to advance commercial fusion. Locally, Ms. Ganten is crucial in planning for CFS to construct and operate the first commercial nuclear fusion power plant in the world in Chesterfield, Virginia. The project is expected to spur billions of dollars in economic development in the region and create hundreds of jobs during the long-term operation of the power plant.

Ms. Ganten brings decades of experience in energy policy, advocacy, partnership building, and global market expansion to Commonwealth Fusion Systems. Previously, she served as the Vice President of Federal Affairs & International Market Expansion at bluebird bio. Before that, she spent nearly 20 years with Chevron as General Manager of Public Policy and Corporate Responsibility, leading the development and execution of corporate strategy on critical policy issues, including climate change and environmental, social, and governance (ESG).

Ms. Ganten received a B.Sc. in International Affairs from Drexel University, an International MBA from the University of South Carolina, and a Master's Degree in Public Administration (MC/MPA) from the Harvard Kennedy School of Business. As the mother of 2 sons who were heavily involved in Model UN, she's excited to share her experience working in global affairs, international cooperation, energy, and climate change.
